My doctor wants to start me on Celexa tomorrow, and Ive never tried it. Any experiences/side effects I should know about? Also, I am a diabetic so I worry if it will raise or drop blood sugar levels. Thank you!

I did not have a good experience with celexa but I'm a weird case. My doctor for some reason started me off at 60 mgs, which is not the way to do it. You are supposed to start with a low dose and move up. I was super anxious and boucing off the walls, but don't let me scare you. I'm sure it's much easier if you do it like you are supposed to and build up slowly.

I was prescribed Celexa for panic attacks. It didn't do anything except give me a headache and make me nervous.

Citalopram has worked well for me for nine months now. No side effects and taken the edge off my depression and anxiety. The first week was a little unsettled with mild mania, but that soon passed.

I'm on a baby dose because my pdoc and I know I get manic on a standard dose. I think it works okay and I've had no side effects unless I tried going off of it. THAT got ugly and we agreed that I wasn't going to attempt it again.

I've been on 40 mg for 8 years and love it. I do remember getting headaches when I first started it, but they didn't last.
