Hello I'm new here- just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience- I was on 10 mg of Paxil for 8 years(worked wonders) - decided life was good and I was going to get off of it- well after a failed attempt and horrible withdrawal I went back on my 10 mg( this past january) - I was still feeling depressed and anxious, so 2 weeks ago doc increased me to 20mg - told me to take 15 for 2 weeks - then go up to 20 after that- well the day after I increased to 15 I got horrible debilitating brain fog! I felt completely disconnected- like a drunk feeling! This has been consistent for 2 weeks- however the past 2 days in the evening it feels better- less foggy - still have anxiety- anyone else have a similar experience after a dose increase? Did you find it eventually went away? Just worried since I never felt this way on Paxil before - I know I can get worse before I get better but the brain fog / disconnected feeling is the worst! Now I feel a bit better at night - anyone relate?

Paxil is my all-time favorite SSRI. For many, including me, it can have a mild dis associative effect. For me it's not full on brain fog, just I feel like I am falling back into my brain away from reality a little - which can be a nice easy feeling.
I would take Paxil now if I did not have to maintain high functioning focused people skills as part of my job. I am not sure if this side effect will go away, but for many of the meds I have taken, I have learned to withhold judgement for at least 6 weeks, unless the side effects are absolutely unbearable. Good luck, moogs

Thank you! I am in week 3 - I have been on it for 8 years and have never had this issue before until I recently increased my dose! I will give it another few weeks and see what my doc says.
