I was hoping people who have taken one or both of these could give me some insight. I've been on the medications for a few days and I am experiencing some side effects. Please share experiences

hi payne
i can only share a bit about zoloft. i wasnt on it very long. my pdoc gave it to me for anxiety. it gave me diarrhea for a couple weeks. it never did anything for the anxiety before i had to stop taking it. i am bipolar and it triggered the worst mania ever for me. auditory and visual hallucinations. so it definitely wasnt the drug for me. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

I was on Zoloft for about a year, it always made me feel like it dulled me, somehow; I started tapering off it a little over 2 years ago with pdoc's and t's blessings and even with tapering off, I still got brain zaps or whatever. But I've been completely off it for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. It got me through a very, very dark period and I am grateful for that. But after a year of therapy I didn't want that feeling of being dulled out anymore.

(((Payne))) Sorry. I've never been on Straterra or Zoloft but I did want to pop in and welcome you to Psych Central!! I'm glad to see you're already getting support and advice from other members here.

I was on Zoloft for about a year, mainly for panic disorder and generalized anxiety. I was on a low dose at first (forget the dosage, but it was lower than the regular clinical dose) and didn't really have side effects. However, when they increased my dose, I experienced what my T said was agitation. It was sort of like anxiety/panic, but it was like I couldn't sit still, and felt like I was crawling out of my skin. So I ended up switching to Paxil.

Love Strattera! The only side effect for me is dry mouth, but I can handle that. I just drink more water, which is better for me anyway. The medication started to help my ADHD about two weeks after I started it. It's been six weeks now and I haven't been this productive in years!! I don't feel jittery and sleep just fine. I'm taking 50 mg.
