What dose are you on? My DR. started me at only 2 MG as I am very med sensitive - it worked great for like 2 months - helped immensely w/ the paranoia and anxiety - but now I feel its not working anymore - I think maybe I need an increase.. I'm just curious what dose others are on - people that like it and find it is working.

Thank you!

I've been on 2 mg (split in to two 1 mg doses per day) for two months now. I'm super med sensitive when I first start a med, then about 3 months in, my body adjusts and I have to increase the dose (usually double it) to get the same affect. Once my body has adjusted to the med, I can stay on that new dose for a long period of time and it will remain effective.

I'm not med sensitive and I'm on five, using it for MDD augmentation. Usually doses for BD are quite a bit higher.

I've been taking abilify since the end of November...I started on 10mg for about a week or so and then it was increased to 15mg. I tried decreasing it about a month ago back down to 10mg due to side effects but it impacted my mood and had to increase again....unfortunately my mood isn't improving since the increase. Hoping it kicks in again soon because it has been a good med for me until now.

I had been taking 5 MG for a few years but my pdoc just increased it to 10 MG A few weeks sgo it helped at the initial dose and I think it's starting to help me now. I had sunken back into a dark place again.

When I took it I started at 2.5mg and then 5mg it made me turn manic however so I came off it before we reached the target dose of 10mg.

I was on mirtazipine and it made me manic, so my pdoc added abilify to stop the hallucinations. He put me on 5mg, but from what I read anything lower than 10 mg tends to cause a manic episode. It made me feel like I was revving the rpms of an engine to the red markers but going no where. It is the worse sensation ever... And because I was manic, I told the pdoc to screw himself and I haven't been back... From the research I have done, they say to treat bipolar it is best to start at 5mg to 10mg and work up to 15mg. I thought that was interesting.

I started with 2.5, then 5mg, now 10mg. It's affect wears off with me every few months and I'm not sure raising the dose does anything but I do it anyway. No pdoc around these parts so I just do it myself with the drugs I have left and cut them up. I do find the affect of abilify wears off for me in a few months and then doesn't work at all. I've been on and off a few times over the years and if I go off it it works again next time I take it for awhile. It's been a lifesaver at times but poops out regularly for me.

I was on 10mg and then 20mg, 20mg made me have bad anxiety (although my pdoc called it a manic episode, I still don't accept that.)

I was on 10 and then 15 i think. Didn't stop any episodes from happening and made me gain a lot of weight so i eventually got to go off it in favor of latuda which also didn't work. Then Zyprexa and Risperidone and saphris all of which caused massive weight gain. I'm still trying to lose the 116 lbs I gained after all that and more meds on top of that like lithium and Lamictal and topamax and lots of anti anxiety meds.

Wow so reading how many other people had manic episodes from it like me I wonder why the pdoc decided on it. I remember I was in a depressed state at the time I started it as well.

I'm backing down from 15 to 10 because of side effects. My digestive system doesn't know whether it's coming or going since increasing my dose. Anyone else experience this?

What kind of digestive issues do you mean? When I first started abilify I couldn't finish a meal without feeling like I was going to throw up. It did get better after a few weeks or so although I still get the same feeling every now and then nearly six months in.

Frequent bathroom trips, sitting on the toliet. Not constipation but not diarrhea either. Doesn't list this as a side effect. It's very annoying.

It started at 5mg and got really bad at 15mg.

I'm weaning off. My body is not happy with Abilify.

I was taking 20 MG. But a couple of months ago it was increased to 30mg. It has helped. I think that I am on the maximum dose.

I was administered Abilify 10mg for a month or two: regarding anxiety I felt so zen that nothing in the world could make me anxious, not that I was anxious before though, I only understood what real anxiety is when I quit Abilify. While tapering down from 10mg to 2.5mg (though it was very fast paced within month and a week, but keeping in mind I was on it for month and a half max) I didn't notice any change at all, but once it became zero, god help us sinners, my advice if You ought to have to discontinue it for whatever reasons and if You're sensitive and get similar withdrawal, keeping in mind You have anxiety issues now, better withdraw from minimum You can. Good luck and stay well.
