Has anyone noticed depression after Adderall wears off? I've noticed it here and there at lower doses, but now that I take a 30 mg pill, I've felt much more down and depressed. It may not be the Adderall at all, but I'm curious. I recently changed from 20 mg Prozac every other day to 10 mg every day, so that could be it too. Thanks for any input!

I was just thinking about this today! For me I don't think it has as much to do with the adderall (or vyvanse sometimes) as the fatigue I have without it. It is sometimes hard for me to separate depression and fatigue bc when I feel tired I start feeling more mellow, sad, and hopeless.

I know what you mean about the fatigue- it's killer sometimes! This feels different lately though and it could have nothing to do with the Adderall

Was it at a certain dosage? I've been taking 60mg a day for a long time, but previously I was taking one and a half 20 mg pills (to equal 30mg) twice a day. My pdoc just prescribed me the 30 mg tablets recently and that's when I noticed the worsening depression. My mood is really unstable - fine one minute, crying and desperate the next. Do you mind if I ask if you take something else to replace the Adderall? Ritalin didn't do much for me and I hate the the long acting version - it makes me exhausted. I do know there are other non stimulant options, just never been offered them before. I will of course tell my pdoc all this but I don't see him until the end of June. Plus I'm always interested in what other people who actually take these mess have to say.

Adderall definitely has a "crash" at the end of it. I've found that Vyvanse doesn't do that to me- it's a very smooth and light transition from being active to being inactive. I take Vyvanse in the morning and Adderall in the afternoon, and don't get the Adderall crash, I think because I take them both.

When I was taking just Adderall, my doctor helped me with the crash. If I was taking, say, 20mg 2xday, I would take 20mg in the morning, 10mg or 15mg in the early afternoon, and the remaining 5 or 10 mg in the late afternoon when I noticed it was wearing off. That way, my body wasn't suddenly dropping off after 20 mgs in the late afternoon. Helped me, maybe talk to your doc about it if you think this method could help!

hey, i got off adderall completely. i am on no medications like that anymore. i began to abuse it to avoid the crash. eventually i became super psychotic and i had to stop taking it. i was on 25mg 2x a day. around 6-7pm i would get really depressed and sometimes suicidal . so iwould take more and more and stay up all night, never eat, just go plain crazy. i still struggle with focus and concentration but , for me, its better than what i was doing w/ the adderall and the effects it was causing on my mental health. i tried Strattera for a little bit, i thought it helped at first then i didnt notice anything improving so i stopped it. my T thinks the focus and concentration is a result of trauma and i kinda agree bc while working in therapy i have gotten better at doing my homework, housework, etc. not sure why you take stimulants, im guessing for adhd. my 5th grade teacher told my mom i had adhd and she should take me to a dr but she didnt. this was like a year after my dad died so who knows. anyway, thats my story. theres many stimulants out there so i hope one works for you
