I've posted before so will try to summarize. I went off Effexor last fall with disastrous results. Long story short, severe anxiety and the worst depression I've ever experienced hit me over winter and spring, ending with me being put on mirtazapine. I upped the dosage to 37.5 mg and was still so depressed I couldn't function, couldn't get off the couch, couldn't feed myself or enjoy anything I had previously. The only thing getting me out was taking care of my animals, which I did grudgingly, just not like me.
So, my p-doc added 37.5 mg Effexor AM, with 30 mg mirtazapine PM. It was like a light switch had been flipped! The next day I felt pretty good, and my husband said he was happy to see me smile again. However, I started waking in the night so added Benedryl. After 7 days, I found my mood slipping, and today I was back on the couch, really dreading doing anything outside. I saw a new P-doc today who said to go up to 75 mg Effexor for a month, and that we may be changing meds after that, depending on the results. I have also noticed that I have a tingling sensation in my lips/tongue and sometimes my hands (skin). I forgot to mention this to the doc today! I see my therapist in the same office tomorrow so will get a message to my doctor about it. Has anyone had any experience with this combination? |
