So I had really clear skin. Then in recovery from anorexia I had a few breakouts just because my body was in over drive and excited it was getting fed properly. I also switched from the pill to the IUD recently. Still just occasionally breakout. Then I got back on lithium because I just knew I had to. Then the breakouts never go away and I get it on my chest and back. And the weird I guess pustules? I'm not sure what they are called.
I've tried washing my face with a non paraben non comadengenic etc acne face scrub twice a day then an acne cream twice a day. No change. Anyone have anything that worked? Lithium is helping to much for me to go off of it over something like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I know a member used Tazorac and it cleared her right up. It is prescription and she said it was pretty expensive tho. Are you able to see a Dermatologist?

I had some acne when I started, but it eventually cleared up. I acutally used alcohol wipes and drank a ton of water.
Here is a link that says it tends to clear up within 6 months... When Lithium Causes Acne - Bipolar Disorder Center - Everyday Health I have read that probiotics can help, as can lowering the dose of lithium. Some other people in the Bipolar forum recommend Retin A. Good luck. |
