Hi all, newbie here.

After years of Xanax abuse, Remeron has finally given me my sanity back. However, the major weight gain, edema and inability to see pdoc in time for timely refill has sent me spiralling again.

I have worked in mental health field for a decade but past 2 years terrified to leave home, even bed, at times. Pressure to bring money in is exacerbating the situation, and I am teetering on insanity when my stepdad is present and treats me like a lazy pig.

My family were much more apt to socialize with me when I was thin, even though it was a deadly way to get there.

Please help!

Hello, linzee.loo830, and welcome to Psych Central! I know what you mean by weight gain on Remeron. I finally asked to be switched to something else. But you say it works for you other than the side effects.

I take a small dose of Klonopin for anxiety. I don't like what it does to my memory, but at least I don't panic and go into screaming episodes anymore.

Questions: Can you possibly find another pdoc? Call and tell your current one about your problem with getting timely refills? Maybe you can get more pills at a time.

I know you said you had trouble getting out, but have you considered seeing a therapist? Maybe the two of you can work on weight issues and other concerns. I find therapy to be very helpful.

It's sad that folks don't understand mental-health issues, especially relatives. How nice it would be if they could be supportive...

Make yourself at home here. Many of us understand the kind of things you are dealing with. Let's see if other folks have ideas to help you.

Again, welcome!
Thanks for this!

Oh, I completely understand the not leaving the bed. I've been sitting on my bed for two years now too, ever since I was forced off benzos after 30 years. I'm so scared a lot of the time I can't get off my bed. I'll have to ask about Remeron. I don't even know what it is. Good luck.
