I was reading where wellbutrin may increase anxiety and restlessness and irritability in patients with depression and anxiety.

I get butterflies in my stomach a lot of the time, and I am very irritable and restless since I've been on this cocktail of meds with wellbutrin.

Can you reduce wellbutrin safely by splitting a 150mg XL in half?

You cannot split extended release pills. You'll need to call your pdoc and have him prescribe the lower dose.

Or get off Wellbutrin, it's really not a good option if you have an anxiety diagnosis in addition to depression and from my experience the anxiety from Wellbutrin gets worse over time, not better

This is good to know. I started on Wellbutrin to augment Cymbalta two weeks ago. I was at a meeting about a week ago and basically had a panic attack for the first 45 minutes. I have generalized anxiety plus panic disorder but recently have mainly been having issues with depression (the reason for adding Wellbutrin). So maybe the Wellbutrin explains the panic attack...
