Does anyone take propanolol for anxiety? If so, what dose do you take and does it work for you? My dosage is 20 mg, twice a day... sometimes I take double that dosage (it was just officially okayed by my doc) and it helps a little but not completely. I also have low blood pressure sometimes so if I take too much at night it makes me sick.

I was prescribed atenolol before for panic attacks which is also a beta blocker like propanolol, it kinda helped but I didn't like the way I felt on it. If it helps you that's great, just be careful with the low blood pressure thing

I love propranolol. It works great and I don't go up and down like I did on the benzos. It works long term and keeps my anxiety much lower. Because of all the work in therapy I just reduced it to 20mg twice a day. Before it was three times a day.

Yes! Why no p-doc ever prescribed Inderal for me to treat anxiety I'll never know. But my blessed GP prescribed Inderal to break a cycle of severe, disabling anxiety. Helped like nothing else ever had. I take 10mg 2 or 3 times/day, have no noticeable side effects, and my p-doc says I can take twice the dose I take or more, if need be.
