Don't enjoy life anymore as i used to do earlier. Don't feel like before. I don't like going outside; i feel insecure when i go for outing. have frequent muscle tension. moreover i had been traumatised by last event; in which i had to drop a year; never dreamt of such a thing.

Anxiety and PTSD are the main cause. they don't let me do anything.

pls help soon. i need to get okay soon !

hi uchiha freak
there are meds that can help but therapy is more important i think. most important is a therapist who SPECIALIZES in anxiety and trauma, not just one who occasionally treats it. i spent 3 years in therapy with a phd that was good but only had general skills. my anxiety and trauma only got worse. now a year with a specialist, i am so much better.

welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

Hi! Welcome to Psych Central (PC). I am sorry you have suffered from anxiety and PTSD. I have heard from others who had a diagnosis by a psychiatrist and got on meds that that helped stabilize their emotions. A therapist also helped them.

You may also find the posts here of interest. Psych Central - Search results for Coping with anxiety ptds

Glad you have joined our community. I find Psych Central helps me find answers where before there were only questions. There is so much here. Maybe a friend you meet here at PC will help you with sharing what you are going through.

Many people here at PC find they can share these feelings and what they are going through with the confidence that people go through similar things and can empathize. So many forums are offered as well as Chatrooms (after you have 5 posts or comments on others posts). Depression chat meets on Thursday night at 9pm EST and Anxiety Wednesday at 8PM.

You can also be an active member in other ways like supporting others in their questions, reading articles and posts http://forums.psychcentral.com that are applicable to your area of concern.

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

Hi uchiha_freak

I have no personal experience of PTSD but a member of a mood disorders therapy group that I used to go to does.

She reported that a combination of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helped her with her PTSD.

She stressed that, in her experience, it is important to find a mental health professional who has a track record of using TFCBT and EMDR when working with clients who have PTSD.

I take Seroquel for bipolar, but it seems to work for PTSD and anxiety. It's a powerful antipsychotic, so I don't know if you need anything that strong.

I take xanax for panic attacks. But you have to be careful if you've had addiction issues in the past.

Best to find the right combination of therapist and psychiatrist. Your psychiatrist will choose the best med for your situation.
