I didn't see this topic on any of the previous forums, so i'll bring it up now.

I was wondering if anybody has experienced fatigue as a side effect of Abilify. I've been sleeping at least 10 hours day since being on atypical antispychotics for 11 years. I was on Geodon for many years, 160 mg, and am on 10 mg Abilify now. I just don't have the energy or motivation to work, and have been on disability for over 10 years.

I'm also on Trilafon, but i had sleep/energy/fatigue problems prior to going on typical antipsychotics. My dx is more depression/GAD/obsessiveness. I have some psychotic features.

Let me know what you think.

I don't have extra fatigue on Abilify but it's hard to say because I have emphysema which causes a lot of fatigue. I don't sleep for 10 hours unless I'm depressed. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.

I suspect the reason you've not found any instances of this question is because Abilify is one of the least sedating APs for *most* people.

Having said that though, I had the same experience as yourself. I was taking naps during the day as well as sleeping long hours at night. I thought my body would just adjust after a few weeks but I didn't so I switched medication. Although I had some day-time sleepiness when I first started Risperidone, it's now worn of for me so it's just sleeping long hours at night time that is left, which is much more manageable.

As an aside, I don't think 10 hours sounds that excessive for someone on APs. I personally sleep for 11-12 hours a night.
