My psychiatrist has not been helpful in explaining this, and I would apprciate it if anybody here could.

I've had depression for years.

my pdoc is starting me on zoloft. Thing is, I also have sexual anhedonia(no pleasure during any part of sex including ejaculation). Everything I read about it says it is a dopamine deficincy symptom.

Now zoloft is an ssri, which has negligible effect on dopamine.
More importantly, ssris apparently lower dopamine levels and cause sexual anhednia in a lot of people.

My Q is-
As some one who already has sexual anhedonia, is it safe for me to take zoloft?
I am afraid that it will deplete my already low dopamine levels and cause permanent damage in some way.

Should I get a second opinion on this?

I doubt it will cause anything permanent. It might make it more difficult while you are taking it but it doesn't sound like you have a great sex life anyway. I have a really low sex drive but it's more important to me to feel like I can cope with life. Plus depression causes a low sex drive anyway.
