Hi everyone. I've recently been prescribed Zoloft and Xanax and I'm finding caffeine to be a problem for me now. Caffeine has never been a problem for me before now, but now it makes my heart race and I start to feel queezy.

Does anyone else experience this? What do you drink instead to help get you through the day?

You might want to consider trying natural roasted chicory root with your coffee; I have similar concerns, have to watch out for a heart rate that's a bit too fast lately, but also need the caffeine as a lever for my migraines.

The chicory has relaxing properties, but also a dark flavor that matches well with that of coffee.. as a result it's tasty, it's actually darker, you still get caffeine; I've genuinely come to prefer it. Some people make it on its own as a tea, and as a coffee substitute, but I put 1 part chicory to every 2 parts coffee in the filter and it makes a huge difference for me.

It costs about the same as decent coffee, so it's not really an terrible expense to incorporate it:

Amazon.com : Frontier Natural Products Organic Chicory Root Roasted -- 16 oz : Chicory Produce : Grocery & Gourmet Food

That one's organic; Frontier has a non-organic too that's a couple of dollars less. There's also premixed chicory coffees, such as made by Cafe Du Monde and French Market, but I prefer being able to control the ratio, for obvious reasons. I got a tin of the Cafe Du Monde first since they can be gotten for about $9/pound, just to make sure I liked it, but I couldn't find it anywhere locally. It's more of a New Orleans tradition, chicory coffee. I was hooked right away though.

Just an idea. In case you're like me and reluctant to give up caffeine and coffee altogether.

Hi there

Thanks for the suggestion and the link! I ordered some and should be here Wednesday. (Yay for Prime!) I'm excited to give it a go. Coffee/caffeine is one of my favorite things and the idea of having to give it up was really bumming me out. Hopefully this will help.

Jeez, sorry to hear about your Zoloft disaster. I've only been on it for 6 days, but it seems to be doing the opposite for me. It seems like I almost have to force myself to eat. Zoloft seems to be making me a bit queasy. Zoloft, Xanax, and caffeine As far as it actually doing what it's supposed to it's too early to tell, but I'm staying positive.
