I am finally starting Cymbalta or Duloxetine tonight. I have a lot riding on this as the last several antidepressants havent worked. My doctor is leaning my diagnosis towards bipolar. I have done a lot of reading online and a lot of people have said they noticed an improvement in the first to third day. However, I am curious to get some feedback from some of you on the site that have either taken or are taking this medication. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Good luck; I hope it works for you.

My experience: Cymbalta was the only one out of over a dozen different anti deps that I tried that gave me discontinuation syndrome.

I wont be taking it at night again because it kept me awake ALL night long. Im still feeling the effects this morning. Im glad that I finally have energy and I dont feel blah because of the depression but the insomnia only adds to my anxiety. Im going to skip todays dose and take it early tomorrow morning when I wake up.

I would definitely take it in the morning. Cymbalta really didn't do much for my depression but helped some with chronic pain. For me Effexor (same class) was much more effective.

Good luck.

I just started duloxetine 60mg this week. I have discontinued bupropion because I felt it wasn't doing anything for me. I have noticed some nervousness and have cut back on the caffeine. Also was told to take it in the morning and with food to avoid stomach upset. So far I haven't experienced any insomnia and feel OK.

I take Cymbalta and it did the same to me when I took it later in the day. Up all night. So, I take it in the morning.
