Those of you that take seroquel does it make you extremely tired? I've been taking 50mg for about 2 weeks and am sleeping 16 hours a day. That is NOT normal in my book. Do any of you have the same experience? I've been trying to get a hold of my pdoc's nurse but she's either on vacation or extremely busy.

I have been taking seroquel for about 8 to 10 months now. I was on 75mg at night but I had to drop it to 50mg.

When I was on 75mgs I would sleep more and at times through out the day I would fall a sleep and not be able to wake up. It is so weard because when I would fall asleep, I'm aware of whats going on around me but I just couldn't wake my self. That scared me to death.

It does give me a good nights sleep though. I seem to be extra sensitive to a lot of meds. I'm bipolar and when I was on lithium I had really bad side effects.

I do have side effects on seroquel as well. I get a bad rash on my face at times and on 75mgs I loss my hair. But it does keep me sane so I hope I can tolerate the side effects.

I hope you have better luck with it.

Take care
Jacqui :-))

You can get Somnolence as a side effect to the medication...

Hi Jannie! I've been taking 150 mg of Seroquel now for about 2 years and it has helped me tremendously! It does make me sleepy though so I take it about an hour and a half before I plan on going to sleep, which is normally at 9:30 or so, so I take it around 8:00. I have found that if I take it really late at night, I have problems wanting to wake up in the morning. I feel like I have a hang over of some type. Just allow yourself some time to get used to it. I see you have been taking it for 2 weeks now. Has it helped you much? Just adjust your medicine schedule to what time it best suits you. Eventually, I think your body will adapt better to it as well and that may make you less sleepy. Keep in mind I am no doctor, I have just had experience with it. Take care & good luck!

Hi Janniebug,

I was at one time on 200mg twice a day, and as I recall it does have a sedative effect, I too took my bedtime dose at about half hour before I planned to go to bed. If it continues to bother you I would see about seeing the MD and having it reduced or replaced.

Take Care,
Kris seroquel

I wish you the best, and the hope for a better day for us all, in out struggles no matter how large or small I wish hope for us all seroquel
