My friend was put on Hadol and her only dx is anxiety. I read up on the medicine (it's an antipsychotic) and saw no use for anxiety anywhere. Is that normal? How will it help her? Will it hurt her?
Her doctor (in my opinion) is an idiot, but she listens to him anyway. She's also on Ativan, and I think she's becoming addicted, but he doesn't care. She had to see another doctor once because hers was out, and he wouldn't refill her prescription because it had been too soon since she last had one filled (warning sign?) but her doctor doesn't care. He gives it to her whenever she asks. Argh. |

I've never heard of anyone using Haldol for anxiety, either, but Google came up with a bunch of references to it, so I guess some people do. Still, with all the new meds that can be used to treat the problem, you'd think he'd pick something with fewer potential side-effects?
Is her pdoc an older guy? The reason I ask is that when I was being treated just for anxiety back in the early 80's, my pdoc (who was middle-aged then) was really liberal with the Tranxene, which is a lot like Ativan. I'd go through 2 or 3 prescriptions a month, and he'd hardly bat an eye about early refills, even though I was clearly getting addicted. |

Boy do I remember that one!!! I couldn't take that at all. I went into anaphylactic shock and my hubby had to rush me to the er for some benadril. The er doc said I can not take this med. as I am ALLERGIC to its compounds, and do not take this drug again.
That idiotic psychiatrist told me, no, it's a side effect, you are not allergic to it. Ha! I started gagging, swallowing my tongue, and eyes rolling around in my head......oh that's not allergic????? HOW DO YOU SPELL S-T-U-P-I-D!!!!! |
