Does anyone have experience with both?

My insurance covers both, they cost the same and my doctor says they work the same. Which one is better??

Just took 0.5 mg of Modafinil for the first time. An hour later nothing to report.

I don't have experience but I bought 14x 200mg online which is coming in the mail because my psychiatrist said no for some reason.

Try 200mg and see how that works.

There is a difference between the two..

Nuvigil = Armodafinil which is an isomer of Provigil which is a mix of the isomers Armodafinil and Modafinil. Armodafinil is 3x stronger than Modafinil so Nuvigil comes in 150mg pills when Provigil comes in 200mg pills.

I take Nuvigil. And I don't really feel any different when I forget to take a dose, so I am not sure if it really helps.

What are you taking the modafanil for? I'm impressed your insurance covers it, most don't. I'm actually at a daytime sleep study getting tested for narcolepsy as I sit here an type right now. I was able to get just a one month of the modafanil filled. It helped. not 100% but a very noticeable improvement in mental energy. Most of the time I feel like I have five pound weights sitting on my eyelids an it's like the medicine almost lifts the weights of my eyes, or at least reduces it.

take heart, if you've had only a couple doses it can still be early to tell. 1/2 pill didn't really help me either. Even though it does work on an "as needed" basis with a single pill for some it is more effective daily because it builds up in your bloodstream. you might just need a couple days for it to hit its peak

Good luck with it. it's a good medicine. Wish me luck that I have narcolepsy (lol, sounds crazy) and that I can get it approved!

and for those of you who are taking it: are you all taking it for depression? I mean, maybe it works off label but take it with a grain of salt. It is a wakefulness promoting medication, it's not intended to really lift a low mood unless the low mood is coming from a neurologic condition causing trouble with wakefulness. So technically, it's NOT a psychiatric med, it's a neurologic med.

It's a fairly safe med so if it works for you as an augmenter, great. I am curious about any updates?

Update: I have tried a higher dose of Modafinil - 250 mg. NOTHING.

Have an ap. with my doctor soon, will ask if I should switch to Nuvigil OR maybe this type of med simply doesn't work for me? Hate the idea of increasing my effexor dose (she said she is thinking about it). I am starting to think maybe effexor is not the right med for me either. Or maybe i need a new doctor? I've never been in love with her, so maybe it's time to start looking for a new doctor?
