For me, the hardest part of being on anti depressants is staying on them. I am at a point now where I think I am stabilized. They are working, so I feel fine. Then I get to the point where I feel like I don't need them because I don't feel so bad. I have to keep reminding myself that I don't feel so bad BECAUSE I am taking them!!

Weight gain/increased appetite , feeling "drugged up", feeling removed from your "real" self, not really caring about anything because you'll "sort it tomorrow".

i agree with you about wishing I could stop the meds when I'm feeling pretty good. But then my pdoc reminds me that the meds are part of why I'm doing well.

For me, the most difficult part about being on meds is the prescribing MD's being so unreliable...not faxing over prescriptions, cancelling appointments on me, changing treatment plans from one appointment to the next, and so on.

The hardest part is trying three meds before finding "the one". The UPS, downs, try each for 4 - 6 weeks,; it can take six months out of your life

Meantime, you spend $100. On rx's that are gonna sit in the medicine cabinet. Never mind 3 pdoc spots.

"just try something different", ya right!

Before I changed meds it was weight gain. Now, it's remembering to take them and the discontinuation syndrome I get when I forget to take them. And, Because of that, I'm also worried about coming off them.

I got a weekly pill divider and set an alarm on my phone so that I remember to take them.
Thanks for this!

Staying on them, believing they are working, taking them at the same time every day, collecting them from the chemist, having to explain what each of them are to doctors/psychiatrists, making sure I have enough, popping them out every week so I have them all sitting out for the next week, side effects (shakes especially)..... the list is endless
