HI just started escitalopram today - had a day of feeling out of it and my stomach felt like it had brain zaps. I havnt felt overly nauseas but a little unsteady this evening and Im wondering is this it for side effects or do they get worse over the first couple of days? Any help would be great. Im very nervous as Im sensitive to meds and have very high anxiety.
Thanks.

My first week was the worst. I felt like I wanted to throw up on the first day. I am glad that you didn't get that "nauseous" feeling. I don't think that word does it justice. The first night I couldn't sleep because of the stomach problem. Other than the stomach problem, I get dizzy every once and a while. I mostly just have to be careful about getting up too quickly. I find that other disorienting activities (walking with a blind fold for a class) made me slightly dizzy too. It also is not recommended for you to mix certain herbs with it or pain relievers. If the pain reliever thins your blood, then mixing it with Lexapro will increase the chance of bleeding. I have never drank on Lexapro and so I don't know how alcohol effects it.
On the other side of the coin, Lexapro improved my focus, made me stop starring at walls and helped my energy levels almost immediately. The improvement in mood didn't come until about a month and a half after I started. If you are interested in further opinions on Lexapro, look it up in the rate the drug section of this website. Good Luck.
