Does anyone have any experience with Brintellix?
I have been on Brintellix for right about 12 weeks now and I feel as if I have hit somewhat of a wall. It has definitely helped with my depression and anxiety however, I feel as if there is still major progress to be made. I am on the highest dose of 20 mg. I have been having trouble with a few of the side effects which has discouraged me a little bit. Mostly, the nausea after I take it (even on a full stomach) sometimes I have to go back and take a Zofran after about 15 minutes once the nausea sets in. Also, I feel as if it is too stimulating sometimes that I have trouble sleeping. I take it early in the morning (usually 7 or 8 am) and I still have to take .5 mg of Ativan at night to calm down and go to sleep. Bottom line: I still feel very anxious and physically tense at times. I have trouble clearing my mind to focus and I find it really hard to motivate myself to get things done. They are little things but I will take it beyond the extreme sometimes. I.e. I will wait four or five days to take a shower, let the dishes pile in the sink, I dont feel like eating or cooking for myself and when I do its usually unhealthy or something lazy. This apathy has carried over into my job too and I put things off or cant get motivated to get things done that need to be done. Its like a battle in my head sometimes because I cant motivate myself to do something but then I get anxious because its not getting done. I dont respond well to generic drugs which is why I am on a name brand drug. I talked to my doctor about going on Klonopin but he is very reluctant to do so because of the risk of physical dependence which is why he gave me a short course of Ativan to help with the situational anxiety because his belief is that the Brintellix "needs more time" Ive also heard good and bad things about Abilify and Wellbutrin however, I have limited patience sometimes (due to the lovely anxiety) Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Charles |

what is the root cause of your anxiety? if you could get to the bottom of that, you might not need so much medication.

I am on Brintellix 20mg. It has helped immensely. I also take venlafaxine in the morning also.

I only took Brintillex for a few days. I was super angry/depressed and the med just seemed to make me more angry to where I was punching walls! It also made me extremely nauseous, so I quit.

I quit cold turkey and I felt funny for about two or three days. Your result may vary. My doc has me on Cymbalta now.

I was put on this and the side effects were horrible. My pdoc told me several times it would get better. If anything it got worse. The nausea never went away while I was on it. I took it with super and then I was told to take it at lunch. It didn't help. Things were bad while on this.So bad that I almost went into the hospital. I quit cold turkey. I would of rather be on nothing then that. I've been off of it for a couple weeks and still dealing with anxiety attacks that are out of control. I'm sure it's not all the medicine but they weren't there until I started to take it. I've heard that people get amazing results and others it doesn't work.
I hope your side effects get better and it will work for you.
