New here. Quick question. I see several of you talk about upping lamictal doses 25, or 50 mg at a time. My doctor upped me from 200 mg to 400 mg in one day. I feel that might be a bit much. Im currently on no other meds. Anyone think they might be overmedicating me? Also, this was my first visit to this guy.

You should ask your doctor why he or she upped the dosage so quickly. Maybe it is safe at that level.

That is a huge jump, I would question it if possible. I've been going up in increments of 50mgs.

That is a baaad decision on your doctor's part. Not only because of other possible side effects (upping dose temporarily increases anxiety for me, and at least some others - 200 at once would be terrible), but because it's really important to titrate slowly with Lamictal because of the possible rash. I'm not sure if this is exactly right, but I'm pretty sure I've heard no more than 25, maybe 50, per week. Not to mention, there's no need to up it 200 mg at a time when 100 mg more might be enough for you. I wouldn't trust that psych, if possible I'd just take at most 300 for now until you see the new psych.

We're not doctors, your psych is. He may have had a reason for it.

I won't comment more than that it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.
Thanks for this!
