Has anyone experienced this before:

Quote:
Body Temperature Regulation: Disruption of the body’s ability to reduce core body temperature has been attributed to antipsychotic agents. Appropriate care is advised when prescribing LATUDA for patients who will be experiencing conditions that may contribute to an elevation in core body temperature, e.g., exercising strenuously, exposure to extreme heat, receiving concomitant medication with anticholinergic activity, or being subject to dehydration.
I'm on Latuda now and I got back into running 2 months ago. I'm okay while I'm running, but later on after a run I'm having chills like crazy. I'm not sure if this is related to the drug; I'm healthy otherwise (no fever and just got my blood work done.)

I tried switching to Abilify for awhile and OMG I was drenched in sweat and my face was on fire when I'd run!! So I went back to Latuda (more so because of the blood sugar effects) but I'm not nearly as hot when I run anymore- just a normal reaction to exercise. But the chills are odd. My temperature seems messed up.

Anyone notice antipsychotics messing up their body temperature??

I definitely experience body temperature dysregulation. I am on Latuda, but I experienced the temperature problem long before Latuda. I suppose it's a med side-effect...even SSRI's seem to cause the problem.
Thanks for this!

Definitely. I'm on risperidone and seroquel and they both make me more sensitive to heat. Summer is really hard on me. But I can break out in a hard sweat even in winter. I just make sure that I drink lots of fluids and try not to exert myself when it's really hot out.

Thanks for the replies. I had never experienced this before. I think I might be overheating while I'm running, but Latuda makes me a bit numb to my body so I don't realize it, hence the chills afterward. I'll make sure to drink lots of water and try to dress lighter.

Yeah a lot of psych meds can cause you to get overheated easily which is why it's important to stay hydrated like you said. I used to have that problem on Lithium (a moodstabilizer)

I also have found myself having trouble cooling down after a workout. It must be the risperidone. I also have trouble warming up if i get to cool.
Thanks for this!

I don't remember heavy sweating when I was on Abilify, but for non-antipsychotics - Paxil and Effexor were the worst. Bad sweating.

I went off Abilify over the winter and now that summer is here I've realized I am sweating less.

Strangely, when I've been on antipsychotics, I've nearly always felt cold overall. Like wearing jumpers in the Summer & stuff. Although at the same time, I've usually felt uncomfortable sitting outside on hot days in the Summer. I guess maybe it varied between different meds, although I can't remember which ones did what.

Having said that, when I started Abilify I did feel very warm & sweat a bit but it went away after a few weeks. I think Amisulpride was the one I felt the cold mostly on.

I just stopped taking Latuda 80mg two days ago. I did not notice sweating because of it.

Coincidentally, the temperature in Phoenix went from low 90s to 108 in the last two days. I have my AC set on 78F and I am sweating. That's Phoenix though.

I just started Vraylar in place of Latuda so I hope that's not making me sweat.

Usually bad antidepressants make me sweat. So does Adderall.
