I started Zolpidem 5-10 mg for difficulty falling asleep. The first time I took it, the side effects were bizarre despite it very obviously working.
Now, after using it every few days for a short period of time, I have developed a tolerance. It probably works slightly, but not as definite as before and now the success depends on other factors and isn't a certain yes or no. What are some possibilities to perhaps bring up? (and no, by bring up I do not mean directly tell the doctor what I need) Keeping in mind that the idea is to hopefully be able to fall asleep with some more ease (on difficult nights) and not feel drowsy the next morning.

benzodiazepines are still fairly common. Restoril is commonly used where I live. I think some doctors still use Halcion.
Other than that...I got nothing. maybe gabapentin? |

Maybe Quetiapine (brand name Seroquel, an atypical antipsychotic)?

I went from zolpidem to zopiclone and it works well.
