I know that it puts you at risk for suicidal thoughts. I also know I had them a dozen years before I took it.
I think the drug helps you fight the thoughts .
What do you think?
It doesn't take them anyway but it gives you the strength to fight back hard .

Lamictal worked for me. I didn't have an increase in suicidal thought associated with it either.

Honestly, all medications that effect your mood, especially psych meds, have the potential for causing suicidal thoughts.
Lamictal also (in my experience) is one of the milder drugs and the side effects are really not too bad at all. And a lot of times too, antidepressants can cause an increase in suicidal ideation because you now have energy to think about things, whereas before all you could really do was sleep.
But then again, everyone's body is different.
