I have one story about my pharmacy. While I was in the Psych ward I got prescribed Lorazepam, since my psychosis was quite heavy I got a maximum of 5 a day. However when I left the hospital and went to the pharmacy I couldn't believe my eyes. They gave me 150 pills of Lorazepam. Turned out the prescription said: "5 pill a day".I was kind of shocked, I used to be depressed and if I still was they'd be giving 150 pills to a person who might misuse them.
Also they tried to charge me for medicine that was covered by my insurance at least ten times.

Anyone else have any pharmacy related things that baffled or annoyed you?

For three months in a row they have been out of Latuda when I refill it. I refill it the same week every month yet then NEVER have it. I've gotten where I order it four days before I need it now. Crazy.

Oh and I got to educate a pharmacist once on a drug called stahist. It's commonly taken here in Ky for allergies because they're so bad here. I was on vacation in Florida and was trying to get some and he'd never heard of it. It's an antihistamine and decongestant together.....seriously will fix you right up! He had to look it up online and said "hmm. Looks like a good drug."

I don't think there has been one time I dealt with my pharmacy and everything went smoothly. I have to battle to get them to do anything, including fill prescriptions. They constantly screw up. Everyone who works there is short-tempered and impatient. It's very frustrating.

I finally switched pharmacies, after getting fed up about being lectured about side effects of my meds, every time I went to fill a prescription. Keep in mind I've been on all the same meds now for years, so I pretty much know the side effects.

But no, every time I picked up my Effexor - I got warned about blood pressure because I'm so high a dose. Every time I picked up 1 of my 2 AP's I got grilled on why I was on 2. then they started telling me my AP and AD combinations could kill me - ok that got my attention, and I talked to my pdoc, and now he does ECG's every 3 months and my heart's fine. I don't need to be reminded that I could drop dead any minute, every time I pick up a script.

I spent 10 years of my life working in a retail and hospital pharmacy. There is no excuse for so much laziness and ineptness that is so widespread in the pharmacies these days. A quick " do you have any questions about this medicine" especially for refills is all it takes.
DutchCount... 150 Lorazepam is a high amount but not all that unusual. Your right to question that many being given at once to someone who might abuse them.
You go into any Wal-Mart to get an Rx filled and it takes about an hour or more. Such B.S. Or you call in a refill and hours later when you arrive to pick it up it still has not been filled.
Sometime pharmacies will not stock more expensive medications that are less used than others. Many have very short expiration dates. I suggest always calling in refills 5 days before needed especially if they have a history of being out when you need them.
Thanks for this!

Last week i filled my husbands meds. It was a refill of something hes been on for 6 years.
When we got home and opened the bottle the pills looked different. Turns out they were percosets, instead of crestor.
If this happened to someone who wanst paying attention, they could have died!
I took the bottle back and the pharmacist apologized in a rude tone and gave me my money back and the correct pills.

This could've been deadly and all he said was sorry this happens more common than you think.

You really should report that to your State Narcotics Board
Thanks for this!

I read stories on google of this happening a lot. CVS was sued in NJ i think for this. Everyone should check the meds and labels at the counter before they leave. Its a big problem apparently.
