I have been on standard estrogen based birth control for a few months - I take it every week so I stopped menstrating and my acne cleared up. However, I started geodon three or four weeks ago and had just started menstruating off-schedule and breaking out again this week. I am wondering if this might have anything to do with geodon interacting with birth control- I just read geodon has something called prolactin but Can anyone tell me how that effects birth control? This also might just be a fluke but I'm not sure because if not I need to change my medication ASAP. Thanks

I think you need to call your doctor to ask. Usually increased prolactin causes missed periods; it shouldn't cause breakthrough bleeding. You need to check with your gyn or pdoc about this.

How long have you been skipping your period? I've found that if I skip for more than about 4 months, I'll get my period, or at least breakthrough bleeding no matter what I do. It's my body's way of trying to do things naturally since it's not natural to not have a period every month.
