So two weeks ago I was put onto Prozac after a failed month long try with zoloft. After two weeks I was told to take two ( I forget dosage). Now my problem is that I have had a headache all day. It never happened until my dosage was doubled really. So do I just keep taking over the counter meds, see my gp, or talk to my psychiatrist??? I'm hoping that the headaches will subside by the end of the week though.

When I got headaches from an ssri I took Advil. For me, the headaches went away after a couple of weeks.

I have severe migraines. The headache specialist put me on magnesium (400-500 mg) and it has made an enormous difference. It's worth trying; it can't hurt unless you take too much and might help.

Prozac always gave me headaches, but I was on it when I was like 17 so I didn't really know any better so I just dealt with it for the year I was on it taking ibuprofen and such.

Antidepressants and other meds deplete and/or block your body's ability to use magnesium which keeps your muscles from cramping so you might try taking some extra magnesium to counteract the effect.

Be sure and take a magnesium that is easily absorbed by the body such as magnesium chloride, citrate or malate along with calcium and vitamins D3 and K as the 4 work together. DON'T use magnesium oxide as it's so poorly absorbed that all it's going to do is give you raging diarrhea as it's shunted to the gut to act as a laxative.

When starting an SSRI, try to take it at the exact same time every day.
Go slowly when standing up, sitting down, and getting up from bed.

I'm also having infrequent but excruciating cluster headaches that comes in suddenly and lasts for several minutes. We found out that it could be a symptom of un-managed stress. So a quarter of Xanax helps me with that and it works in a matter of a minute.
