I've been taking buspar for almost 2 months now, it seems to be reducing my anxiety already. That's good news, and the small changes we're seeing prompted my pdoc last week to titrate my dose up to 15mg 3 times a day. Before Friday, I was taking 10mg twice a day. To start titrating, since Friday I've switched to 15mg twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
With this change, I'm really starting to see how much the buspar helped me sleep. The past couple of nights I haven't been able to sleep well. Has anyone else gone through this kind of change and found a successful way to help them sleep? I do take melatonin, 10mg every night. My pdoc doesn't want me taking anything stronger. I was going to try taking one of my klonopin last night before bed, but I forgot. I might try that tonight. |

I took buspar a long time ago,but had to stop due to teeth grinding. Klonopin is addictive so be careful with that. Have you ever tried trazadone for sleep ? It's non addictive and I sleep very well with it. I take it with lexapro.

Try Hydroxyzine, it has absolutely no dependency, and is a prescription antihistamine. I agree with submax, i would stay away from the klonopin.

I think my sleep will get back to normal once I can add my night dose of Buspar back in. Along with the taper up, my pdoc is trying to target when my anxiety is worse. Seems obvious already that it's at night, but he still wants me taking it morning and afternoon until Friday. |

Trazadone is good, but my best sleep ever was on paxil. Handled my anxiety good as well. Sexual side effects were harsh though.

Buspar helped me sleep, and when my pdoc took me off it, my sleep suffered.
Honestly, the best thing I've ever been on for sleep is klonopin. Yes, it is addictive, but which would you rather have: an addiction, or good sleep every night? I choose sleep. I am personally addicted to klonopin (only physically, thank God), but I wouldn't change that it helps me sleep. I do want to get off it so that I can use it for PRN use only, but that's a different story and won't happen for awhile. I took Ambien for a few months, and it worked, for a few months, and then it stopped. I also slept ate while on it (a known side effect), and that was pretty scary. What if I had done worse??? I also tried Lunesta which I hated because it kept me up for hours before letting me go to sleep. I will say, I slept well once I was asleep, but I didn't appreciate being kept up for hours before finally going to sleep. I tried adjusting the time I took it and everything, and it didn't really matter because it got me wired for whatever reason, and then it made me crash. Trazodone was hell for me. It kept me up, made me nauseous, and gave me horrible headaches. I wasn't on that for long! EDIT: I totally forgot about Seroquel! That was a sometimes great sometimes useless sleep med for me. I have some leftover from when I was on it regularly, and I occasionally take it and it knocks me right out. Maybe PRN use is best for it? I don't know. There is a newer sleep med out called Bellsomra. Supposed to work differently than ambien and lunesta. I believe non addictive. Most powerful sleep aid ever for me was remeron. I hated it,slept 12 hours and woke up so groggy. Awful stuff but if you have bad anxiety with insomnia it will work.
