I'm on Zoloft and I'm unable to orgasm. I've never had an orgasm though, even before I went on meds. Is this issue due to the Zoloft or something else? Should I talk to my pdoc about trying something else? I've been feeling generally better on the Zoloft though, and I don't want to risk feeling bad again. What should I do? And if I should talk to my pdoc about this, how do I go about it? He's a male and I'm a female, so I'd feel a bit awkward with it.

Hi there! I don't know about Zoloft, but I have been on other SSRIs. First I was on Paxil that made me lose all interest in intimacy. So no orgasms there. Now I started Lexapro. In contrast to Paxil, it actually increased my libido, but I could not orgasm ever since I started Lexapro 6 days ago. I wonder if it will change. A friend of mine was on SNRI (don't remember which one) and she also complained about sexual side effects.

So, to answer your question... There is a fair chance that Zoloft causing or contributing to it. Sexual problems are on the list of Zoloft's side effects after all. Sorry cannot be more helpful about Zoloft.

All ssri's make orgasm harder. Some are worse than others. If you are feeling better you have to tough it out for a bit.

Back when I was on Zoloft, it took me longer to orgasm and a lot more stimulation than prior to being on Zoloft. I discussed this with my doctor, who added Wellbutrin. He told me Wellbutrin does not typically have sexual side effects, as opposed to SSRI antidepressants. That seemed to fix the issue. However, later I went manic on both and have completely different meds, but if Bipolar isn't an issue for you, than you shouldn't have to worry about that.

I am a woman and understand it can sometimes be a little bit awkward to bring up sexual side effects to a male doctor, but doctors are so used to addressing these issues and hear these complaints so often, so hopefully that can put your mind to rest that to them, it's no big deal, and they are there to help you address the side effects that bother you. Best of luck!
