I've been on up to 600mg in seroquel a few years ago for the antipsychotic affect. I was put on 100 mg for anxiety then upped to 200mg for sleep now 400 mg for agitation well mania/hypomania anger type stuff from what I understand... what has seroquel helped you with? What can it help with? What is an appropriate dosage? I had my dosage upped bc the doc didn't feel comfortable I assume with the fact that I said if someone said something to me the wrong way I didn't know if I was going to be able to... handle myself appropriately basically.

From what I understand Seroquel was originally developed as an antipsychotic but has also been found to help with depression and anxiety (in combination with other meds?). Don't know about appropriate dosages.

I take Seroquel 200mg at bedtime. I have depression with psychotic features and also generalized anxiety. I previously took Zyprexa but experienced some bad side effects. My doctor replaced the Zyprexa with the Seroquel and it has been working well for me.

I have been on & off seroquel for years. Initially is was just for depression & then things got better & I went off everything & all was ok for awhile until I got into a horrible trauma situation with my Mother who was dying of cancer & the home care person abused her & pulled a horrible ID theft that I caught her doing. That situation turned into some PTSD symptoms that I couldn't handle. At first, my pdoc just tried antianxiety meds that did absolutely NOTHING. I had some left over seroquel & tried that. It seemed to work, but needed a huge dose to be able to sleep without the horrible nightmares that kept me awake.
As I was feeling better as time went on, I was able to lower the dose myself since my pdoc gave me samples at all the different doses. If I needed to function, I couldn't take much since it usually left me pretty groggy for long into the day. Now I am feeling much better but anxiety attacks are still bothering me as more & more things come up that have to be taken care of. Now however, when I feel a horrible anxiety attack coming on, I just take 25mg & lay down for awhile. The attack passes & I am functional again. I can pretty much judge what I need which really helps instead of having to take a set dose when I don't need it. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Seroquel is known to cause problems with diabetes, but it depends that may depend on the persons tendency toward it in the first place. That is the main bad side effect that I have heard about....thus, needing blood tests after awhile to make sure everything is ok with the blood.
The one strange thing that happens to me after taking any dose....even 25 mg, is that my nose gets stuffed up so bad, I can't breath through it & have to end up breathing through my mouth. It is a scarry feeling waking up & not being able to breath in the middle of the night (like when I have a really bad cold). It goes away as soon as the dose wears off. It happens everytime I take it & when I don't take it, my breathing is just fine....that is how I know it's an effect from the seroquel. The other feeling is the groggyness the next morning only after a larger dose, but even with the small dose, I have a hard time getting going after taking it. I am just continue feeling so tired, I don't want to get up until is finally all wears off. Then I can start functioning until my next anxiety attack when I take another seroquel. It makes me so drousy I have to lay down & sleep it off, but then I feel relaxed & the anxiety goes away for awhile. Those are the only side effects I have experienced or know of related to seroquel.
