Hey guys,

This is my first post on here. I will post the shortened version first.

Started Lexapro 10mg, bad side effects for 1 month, stabilized then started 20mg and bad side effects resumed. 3 weeks in no relief, potentially worse.

Essentially I have tried multiple antidepressants, most with no avail. I started Lexapro 10mg about 2 months ago, and really suffered pretty severely with the side-effects. The fatigue was the worst part, I would sleep for 15 hours straight if I could. Slowly, I came out of it and started to feel pretty functional. Not good, but functional. I was only stabilized on the medication for about 3 days before I went in to see my doctor who then upped my dosage from 10mg to 20mg.
Immediately all of the side effects came back, the fatigue has been almost more unbearable. I have a really negative outlook on everything, have lost all interest in anything I used to care about. Am having difficulty making food for myself and getting to work on time. It's been 3 weeks since I started taking the 20mg and about 2 months since I started taking the Lexapro all together. Is there hope - should I hold out to see if the 20mg stabilizes? Should I try going back down to 10mg? Will I have side effects from decreasing my dosage? Has anyone gone through this? I am having trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't think my last post went through, but basically I am curious as to how long side effects (mostly fatigue) will last after upping a dosage of an SSRI. Is 3 weeks too long?

In my experience, 3 weeks is not too long for SSRI side effects to last. Also in my experience, it seems that you should be feeling some relief of depression by now. Yes, I've gone through it. It's important to share your information with your doctor. Good luck!

Maybe doubling the dose was to much at the once. Can you take 15? It does take a good bit of time for the side effects to ease up.

Thanks for this!
