Hi
last year i crashed into a depression because my friend did not want to be friends anymore. So i went to see my doctor ,because the school would't do anything about me feeling this way. I was on zoloft at the time and he up my dose to 50mg and it helped but it made me very sleepy but happier but then he switched me to venfaxine and that medication was awful it made things harder to deal with and made me anxiety high and depression worst and then my doctor refect me to a Pdoc and i asked about cymbalta and he presribe it to me and things got so much better but sadly it stops working fast ,my pdoc had to keep uping it.My friend is still not talking to me and acting like a jerk ,like igning me and i am still down in the dumps i am taking zoloft 50mg again and its not helping. I need brand name cymbalta or prisqit which do you suggest

brand name and generic are identical. All it means is that the patent term on the pharma's drug has come to an end allowing other companies to manufacture it. Again, the formulation is identical.

well my understanding is cymbalta is used for physical symptoms (like chronic pain) as well as mood adjustments.

My question is why are you trying to diagnose yourself and determine what medication to ask for? This is what your psychiatrist is for.

THe only way that you can know if you are better off on Pristiq is to try it. Both cybalta and pristiq are brand names. Cheaper-generic versions of the two exist. Maybe you could ask your insurance company if they will cover pristiq. Other than that ask your doctor or chemist if they know what is more affordable.

If insurance does not cover the brand name, (Cymbalta in your case) the the generic (Pristiq or others) will be exactly the same in terms of helpfulness.

I say stick to what worked- so if Cymbalta worked, you should try to stick to that (using the generic, which is identical in terms of what it consists of) and if you really cannot get your hands on it, only then do you look at other options.
