Today has been really bad. I've taken more hydroxyzine than I'm supposed to in addition to my regular Prozac, Wellbutrin and buspar. I've also taken nighttime cough syrup and cough syrup with codeine. I'm worried that I'm almost out of the cough syrup with codeine and that my meds aren't working anymore. Thoughts?

Daas, I'm a new member also, but it sounds to me like you are taking medications that probably should not be taken together. Codeine is a depressant, so that could be working against your anti-depressants. I would check with your physician. Best of luck.

Daas, Hi, I'm assuming your diagnosis is depression? It is true that hydroxyzine and codeine can cause depression, especially if you're taking too much of one or both.

Laurie, thanks for the reply. Yes, depression, anxiety, etc...and now that I think about it I don't think I told the dr about the hydroxyzine when she prescribed the cough syrup with codeine....

Well, be careful about taking too much of anything. I remember well that codeine cough syrup can be easily abused because, at least for me, it decreases anxiety.
