I had a first meeting with a psychiatrist to prescribe me Remotiv 250mg (a natural AD remedy). I was appointed to him because my depression has been worsening for the last 1-2 months.
The thing is, I've started feeling better after taking Stabillium 200 since Monday night. Stabillium 200 is a dietary supplement which helps cope with stress. You need to take 2 morning, 2 evening for 15 days and then for a routine dose of 2 at once per 2 days, so I just started the process. I've had numerous uses of Stabillium at hard times, I really love this supplement. He acknowledged that I take Stabillium, and has even confirmed that I can take them both. Yet my dilemma is whether I should take the AD or not. I'm starting to feel better, and I have my skepticism of psychiatric medications (this is why I asked for a more natural medication, to which he answered with Remotiv) and find it futile to take it if I feel better. Yet I still feel tired from the idea of working on hobbies and studying for instance. Thoughts? I'm going to sleep in a few hours, and when I wake up I have to make a decision. I didn't have time to ask my psychiatrist about such dilemmas thoroughly. Thanks for your help. |

Hi,
My opinion is that it seems to make the most sense to give the Stabilium more time so you can get an idea about how it might affect you in the long run before taking something else in addition to it. Trying to take Remotiv along with Stabilium might not necessarily be a bad thing to do eventually, but from my perspective, seeing how the Stabilium is going to affect you before deciding whether or not to add another depression treatment to your regimen seems like it would make the most sense. |

My impression is the psychiatrist prescribed the medication intelligently, which is meant to tackle specific symptoms. The Stabillium only tackles stress, while the AD also tackles more symptoms I've been experiencing.

Did your psychiatrist advise you to start taking Remotiv immediately (or at least soon), along with the Stabilium that you're taking? You wrote that your psychiatrist acknowledged that you take Stabilium and confirmed that you could take both Stabilium and Remotiv, but exactly what your psychiatrist advised you to do wasn't clear to me from having read your first post. What I was trying to convey in my last post is that there's a logic to giving one treatment time to see how it's going to affect you before adding a second treatment to your regimen. I wasn't trying to tell you to go against what your psychiatrist advised, but if your doctor did advise you to start with the Remotiv right away along with the Stabilium and you think that it might be better to wait, then asking your doctor if waiting a while before deciding whether to add Remotiv might be something to consider.

I'll be more clear. He instructed me to start taking it, and appointed a check-up one month ahead. I mean, I can take it whenever I want to. I'm sorry, it's just that it's an "at the last minute" moment, so I'm kinda stressed from all this. |
