I know this answer is tough to say because I feel as though I have tried several natural ways to cope with my anxiety and depression but end up feeling lousy regardless.

Which is why I am back on Wellburtin at 150mg and my Dr. suggested I add Efforxor and I said no way on Efforxor based on the horried stories I read about it. The problem with Wellburtin is I still get depressed even at 300mg when I took it 3 years ago. I also experience anxiety and I can't sleep.

There are days I am doing okay and then days I feel like ending it. This last Saturday morning when I woke up I was scared because I wanted to end it all. This mindset frightens me because I don't feel in control of myself or emotions. Yet, 24 hours later, yesterday I recovered but that feeling I know will come back because it always does and I never know when it will. I also get parnoid and don't trust anyone and so while my mind is right I am seeking what other options I can look into.

Does Electro shock work?

I sent an email to my Dr. this morning telling her that when I use to take Phentermine I felt GREAT all the time. I wanted to see if there was anything else like Phentermine and waiting for her reply.

I only slept 3 hours last night because I just up the dose on Wellburtin again. I know this is not going to fix everything for me as I grind my teeth, feel anxious still and just tired of wanting to be happy and feel normal and yet I wake up crying, wanting to give up...it scares me! Like I have no control of myself.

hi. electroshock isn't so great. Mine was heavy and involuntary, so I can't speak to more skillful ect or voluntary ect, etc., but...I'm not a fan. Plus, the relapse rate is high, even with psych drugs after the shock treatments.

Phentermine is a relatively mild stimulant. Ritalin and Adderall are more popular for depression with psychiatrists, and they're also considered more "addictive," especially the Adderall and other amphetamines. Phentermine is in Schedule IV of the controlled substance system, which means you can get some refills. Ritalin and Adderall are in Schedule II, which means --no-- refills, usually prescriptions can't be called in, and there's a limit on how many pills can be dispensed at one time.

Still, stimulants can be used in depression. Another, more popular option would be to add an antidepressant to the wellbutrin. Prozac, lexapro, etc...something from the SSRI class would maybe help anxiety and lift your mood a bit. Some of them mess with blood levels of wellbutrin, so the doctor would have to change doses to avoid seizures and such.

Remeron is another antidepressant that's sometimes used with wellbutrin. Its effective for anxiety and can help you sleep, especially at lower doses. It has a different adverse effect profile than the SSRI and SNRI (cymbalta, effexor) drugs.

Cymbalta? You can go up to the 60mgs/day target dose quickly. Pristiq is the same way, I think. Tapering can be difficult.

Some doctor use the newer antipsychotics/tranquilizers (usually low doses) with antidepressants. Its not supposed to be a first line maneuver, but a lot of doctors do it now, for some reason. Abilify, seroquel xr, latuda, etc. These drugs can calm you down and elevate mood to some extent, reduce agitation, even out mood swings, etc. They can have serious long term adverse effects that need to be watched out for.

OK. That's about all I can think of. There's also self-help, suppelements, group therapy, various forms of talk therapy, etc. You have options. :-)

Thank you for that information. The Dr. called and I have an appt to go in today. They are lookinig at giving me a stimulate but I am not sure which one and I want to read up on a few of them as well.

What I don't want is:
Weight gain
Sex drive being affected.

Those are my deal breakers and unfortunately all the stuff that might work is still not an option for me. I know I am stubborn but it's what it is. All I know is today I feel much better but I know some day in the near future that can all change and that is what scares me so much because my mind belongs to someone else who doesn't give a crap about my well being and that's not who I am when I am functioning well. Which is why I am trying to get this help now while my mind and body can do what it needs to do before things change...what is that all about?

Hoping one of the options/medicatitons today might work better than the WEllburtin I am on. I have taken the ADHD test a year and half ago and I did qualify for these types of drugs as well. My husband lost his job and I stopped all meds back then until just a few months ago as things started to get really, really bad.

Hi,
I also take wellbutrin, and initially it effected my sleep when i upped the dose, but that seems to pass after a couple of weeks. Wellbutrin usually takes a good 6-8 weeks to work, so you should give it time.
I myself needed to add low dose risperidone to my cocktail, and it seems to work great for me. Lots of people add add a low dose AP to augment there antidepressant. I use to be on a higher dose of risperidone, that effected my sex drive, but when i lowered to 1mg or less, i got it back.

Good luck

Electroshock or ECT are not treatments most doctors just order. They usually specifically save that for extreme or treatment-resistant cases.
