Hi all, I was wondering who all here has been on Geodon? Did it make you gain weight? Did it help you? I need a new anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight and could use your suggestions. I heard Geodon was pretty good. Please help

I was on it a few years ago. Worked well, got hypo occasionally (not unusual) but never had those horrible mixed episodes while on it. Didn't have any side effects. Didn't like the fact that you had to take it with a certain number of calories from food. It was weight neutral for me. The med before Geodon was Zyprexa, gained tons of weight on it. Neither gained nor lost on Geodon. I used Geodon to overdose, that's the reason I was taken off it. Obviously, it didn't work for that...

I've been on many psych meds and I thought Geodon was the weirdest one I've ever taken. It caused me to be very tired, but completely unable to sleep. It didn't offer any symptom relief.

But meds are different for everyone; many people do well on Geodon.

Thanks for your reply. I am getting tapered off Zyprexa right now, I am on 5mg in the morning right now and 5 mg at night right now along with 12mg of Invega. I need something in the mornings. I am going off the Zyprexa because of the weight gain..almost 30 lbs so far. The invega works well for a lot of my symptoms but I still have some.

Thank you Laurie, I'll see if my doc will perhaps try it.
Thanks for this!
