Psych upped my dose of Xanax. Was on .5mg as needed. Now on 1 mg daily. Will be having a wisdom tooth extracted. I remember taking prescription pain pills after other extractions and I remember that it was painful but this was all a long time ago. Will definitely talk to psych and dentist and pharmacist. But as I understand it, Xanax and any kind of opiate is a big No-No.
Anyone ever go without pain pills after? How did that go?? As far as OTC goes, I can only take Tylenol, everything else wrecks my guts. __________________ |

It is a very big no-no. I would skip my xanax dosage's until I did not need the pain medication anymore.

I hate being on this. It actually does help me a lot with panic. But at the same time, I get a little anxious thinking about the medication itself.
Will definitely talk to all 3-psych, pharmacist, and even dentist. I hate messing around with the dosage not taking it for a few days, but I have a feeling when the time comes to have that tooth pulled, the pain is gonna make me wanna have some serious relief. __________________ |

i dunno. i was on 2mgs/klonopin per day when i had mine taken out. i did sedation dentistry, no probs. they prescribed vicodin for after the procedure and also some anti-nausea stuff, fully aware of the klonopin.
xanax is different, though. benzodiazepines, in general, are not the best drugs to take with opiates. i did read somewhere that a lot of the "Pain killer overdoses" that make the news actually involve another class of drugs....you guessed it; the benzodiazepines, with xanax apparently being a particularly dangerous drug. ugh. i hope you can get the advice+treatment you need. |

I take Xanax, Vicodin, and Tramadol on a regular basis. I don't recall wisdom-tooth extraction to be a really big deal, but there will be some pain afterwards.

I take Alprazolam (generic Xanax) 1-2mg on a regular basis, and was on Vicodin after my shoulder surgery, the doctors never said anything about any interactions, and I didn't have any problems.
