I've been on 900 mg of Lithium and 125 mg. of effexor for over 3 years. Over the past few months I've noticed at first getting nausea and then later throwing up if I don't eat something before I take the meds. Now even when I eat, I am throwing up, getting brain zaps and my moods do not feel regulated.

Right now I am feeling hypomanic. My current symptoms are hyper sexuality, tiredness, takes forever for me to get ready to go somewhere I really need to go. In other words, feeling pretty dysfunctional.

Can a med slowly become too strong or too weak?

I have to make an emergency appointment with my pdoc to talk about this, but it always helps to get feedback from here about other's experiences.

I'm tired of throwing up my meds and feeling sick or weak all the time. My significant other is very supportive but he can only help short term.

I do think it's my meds because when the meds stop working after awhile, this is the feeling I end up with.

I just don't want things to become toxic med wise if I cannot get in right away.

Can anyone offer experiences and or insites I can discuss with my pdoc?

Any help would be appreciated.

Really sorry you are struggling with your meds & now your dysfunction, as you say.
You may have thought of this already but if you are throwing up, is it possible you are loosing your meds right along with your food your not keeping down?? That could possibly be the reason you are having some manic symptoms.

I was told by my pdoc that meds do eventually become less effective, thus the need for change.

Have you had your labs done lately, including liver profile?
Also gall bladder trouble can make you pretty nauseous, do you have any abdominal pain?

Don't know if this helps. Hope you get to see pdoc soon.

Take good care.
