How long have you been withdrawing from Effexor? I found that the withdrawal symptoms didn't last too long, gradually reducing in intensity. Did you manage to talk to your doctor about it?

Let your doctor know your symptoms. You may need to taper like I did with cymbalta. Even tapering cymbalta I still had symptoms. Effexor is a snri like cymbalta so I am sure the withdrawls are similar.

Have you titrated down the Effexor slowly?
For nausea, two things have helped me: ginger ale and taking 1/2 a tablet of non-drowsy Dramamine. |

FYI :
I am not a doctor or health provider , but : I have taken Effexor as well as Prozac and neither did anything for me , so I stopped. Years ago I was given amitriptyline ( Elavil , tricyclic antidepressant ) , it had more of a sedative effect until you got used to the drug , however over time it did very little . Probably because like most TCA`s are meant for and best used as a short term therapy. SSRI`s ( Effexor / Prozac / Paxil ) have way more side effects are are far more likely to cause issues compared tricyclic antidepressant class of drugs. MAO Inhibitors , please stay away from at all cost , Nardil is the most popular in it`s class. It is still a drug that needs constant blood testing for correct dosing , and very easily abused , my late mom took it and when our dog died she took so much combined with alcohol , it sent her to the hospital as she went into a complete psychotic break, many nights were spent at her side in the hospital , she did finally snap out of it , thank God. After that , even my mom wanted no part of Nardil or any MAO Inhibitors. If you have sever to moderate depression , I still believe that tricyclic antidepressant `s work the best and are the safest ( and the original antidepressant`s ) in short term use, and long term do very little so why take them ? In other word , safe , non addictive. Sometimes the newest drug is not always the best choice to course of action. Take care , I hope this info helps in some small way ![]() Me |

Yes !
Ginger ale / ginger tea , even Benadryl ( diphenhydramine HLC / generic name ) can help with : Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms include rash, itching, watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat, cough, runny nose, and sneezing. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness. I hope this helps, ![]() KP |
