Hello I have a diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder and I currently am on 200 mg of Lamictal for depression, 2 mg risperidone for psychosis, and 45 mg buspar (for anxiety). I still am suffering generalized anxiety. My doctor wants to increase to lamictal to 300. Is this too high of a dosage? Do you think it could help? Oh, and I also I was on Lexapro which stopped working, then tried Effexor, wellbutrin, and viibryd. So SSRIs seemed to stop working.

Buspar I do not think is really working. Does anyone else have another drug (besides benzos) that has worked for anxiety. My anxiety is its worst when I drive on the high way. I dread it so much, even though I do it daily. It really is affecting me. I am just worried that since my ssris stop working it is going to be hard to find the right combo. That makes me more anxious. Ughhhhh just wanted to ask/vent.

Thanks

Buspar was like a sugar pill for me totally useless. 300mg of lamictal is a common dose I am at 200 and feel great. Benzo's are the best for anxiety and panic plain and simple.

I've never taken buspar so I have no advice to share. I take Zoloft and Ativan. I am also schizoaffective and I take 100 Mgs of lamictal. I was up as high as 400 but the hospital doc said that was too high for me and lowered me to 100.
I hope you find a combo that helps.

Meant to add that many people find relief from gabapentin. I take 1200 Mgs split up between 3 doses a day.

Buspar did nothing for me :/ I still had tons of anxiety on it, no matter how much they increased the dose.

Buspar is crap, it gave me a headache and did zero for my anxiety. It sounds like others felt it was also about as effective as nothing. Benzos are always going to work the best, I have not been able to find anything else that works. Every time I get a new doctor they try and take me off my Klonopin, I let the lower the dose and within a few visits, we have it right back to where we started.

Unless I missed it I am surprised I didn't see Cymbalta on your list of things you have tried. It is the antidepressant for anxiety, even officially approved to be used as a treatment for GAD. Unfortunately, I had side effects from Cymbalta so it didn't work for me but I would absolutely ask about it. I have a friend who is on it and it worked amazingly for her.

Buspar did not work. I was eating 800 calories a meal. Got off it with no withdrawals.

I'm on lamictal 200. It seems to work although I sometimes wonder if a higher dose might help.

My Anxiety's either fine or it sucks. I also get these rapid mood swings which I never show so no one really understands that I have them and that I'm not always 100 percent ok.
