Buspar worked well for me with no side effects. It is not habit-forming, unlike benzos. I think it's worth a shot.
Thanks for this!

10mg a day - took a month or so to notice it's affects, which for me was an increase in assertiveness & a slight decrease in my ability to tolerate bureaucratic foolishness.
Thanks for this!

I take 15mg twice a day. Works well for me. Hardly ever have to take a vistaril now. Still have some anxiety but nowhere near what I use to have.

Tried it twice over the past many years; it didn't do a thing for me either time. But I have bipolar disorder, so my anxiety is more like mania. My daughter has GAD and finds Buspar very helpful.
Thanks for this!

I didn't find it helpful, but I have found a lot of meds do not work for me.

But I also did not have side effects. Like all psych meds it seems to help some and not others. But given that it is less likely to cause dependence and that people do not seem to struggle getting off it, it seems like a good one to try.

I was eating 800 calories per meal and my snacks were probably 400-500 calories. I got off buspar and lost and kept off almost 80 pounds. I have never met anyone who has had this experience. I have heard of people losing weight on it. But since the weight loss started immediately after going off it, and since I’ve kept it off, then I am 100% sure it was the buspar.

i'm not sure what the difference was in my brain but after i took buspar for about a month it gave me a terrible psychotic episode and made me so physically sick i couldn't sleep or eat/drink without throwing up. all symptoms went away a couple days after i stopped taking it, but i had to flee my own house and stay with a friend because i thought there were demons inside my walls.
