We haven't had sex in over a year - Over a whole year! She doesn't even like to be touched anymore. Prior to Zoloft, she was the complete opposite - once a week was the norm.
It's crazy that I have to choose between a sane partner or a sexless life. Those can't be my only choices, can they? Is there anything she can take to increase (or rather restore) her libido without quitting Zoloft? |

I've been told by my Pdoc that Wellbutrin can help with libido issues. I've also heard from people on meds that it did help them somewhat. My med induced lack of libido isn't really a problem because my husband has ED probelms from years of blood pressure meds. We still love each other and cuddle, but very rarely do we actually get down to business
Also her underlying reason for taking Zoloft in the first place can lead to diminished libido. Have you talked to you wife about how dimished intimacy is effecting you. You have right to your feelings. She may be embarassed to bringing this up with her doctor. But this is a common problem and any good doctor will try to help. __________________ Eat a live frog for breakfast every morning and nothing worse can happen to you that day! hi. wellbutrin is sometimes added to zoloft and other ssri-type antidepressants for these sorts of problems. its not a sure fire deal, but it does help a lot of people. wellbutrin can cause seizures, a bit more frequently than other antidepressants, so if its added to ongoing zoloft treatment, the doctor should keep an eye on dosage and adverse effects.
another option would be a stimulant. it seems that ritalin and focalin are more popular for depression than the amphetamines, but the amphetamines are still used in depression, usually with other drugs on board. a newer, more expensive, less studied option would be provigil or nuvigil (they're chemically related drugs). |

What is the typical wellbutrin dosage when taken with Zoloft for this purpose?

I took Wellbutrin in addition to Zoloft for a short period for exactly this reason. Unfortunately, the Wellbutrin was too "speedy" for me. It turned out that my diminished libido probably wasn't due to the Zoloft but due to lingering depression and unresolved issues between my spouse and me. Exploring those issues in therapy, recovering more fully from the episode of depression, and exercising regularly got my libido back to normal.

I think it's really unfair of you to use the term "sane partner". It's unkind, and you're contributing to the stigma that depressed people are crazy.
That being said, I think SSRI's contribute more to orgasm loss and not loss of libido. But everyone is different. It sounds like the Zoloft is not working and that it's the depression doing this. |

It's definitely not the depression. Her sex drive was considerable high before Zoloft. Also she has no problem with orgasm...at all. The exact same as before in that regard. It's the whole enjoyment of sex thats not there. Even the orgasm itself is not enjoyable...let alone the actual sex and getting to it. |

I take wellbutrin and it really helps my libido. It was horrible before I started the wellbutrin but now at 300mg it came back.
