I've taken it for years and find it good. Depakote made my hands shake terribly!

I'm not on it, but my daughter is. She was originally put on Lamactical (sp) while IP but they were too aggressive with the dosage and she got the rash so had to come off of it. They then put her on Tegratol. It has worked well for her for mood stabilization. Not sure on the weight part of it. She's also on two Anti Depressants so it's hard to say.

I'm on Trileptal for a mood stabilizer which is supposedly similar to Tegretal, I switched from Depakote and have lost a lot of weight doing so

Tegratol made me gain some weight, but everyone reacts different, so you won't really know until you try it. Good luck!

i take trileptal. my psychiatrist says its a lot like tegretol, but there's much less blood work involved. i had an acquaintance on tegretol back in the day. she had to do blood work a good bit and there were drug-drug interactions that affected dosing of her other medications.
