Hi all,

So my doc put me on remeron after an attempt on Zoloft and Prozac. On both occasions I had to stop after three or four days due to side effects that I couldn't handle. I am so disappointed. Is anyone on remeron and if yes did it help you at all?

Thanks

I was on Remeron for depression and anxiety. It didn't do anything for me.

Remeron classified as an NaSSA Link: https://psychopharmacologyinstitute....escriber-know/ I tried it many years ago and just could not handle the sedation. The antihistamine affect was to strong for me. So, I ditched it after a few days. Obviously not a good trial but I was feeling worse on it at the time and needed something that was not going to fatigue me for awhile. It might work for others. One of those unique meds where the higher dose can actually reduce the side effects in many. Forget the med term.
Quote:
At 15mg the H1 is pretty much fully blocked so any higher dose will not make you more tired. However doses higher than 15mg do continue to increase the serotonin and (most importantly to this discussion) the Nor-epinephrine (nor-adrenaline to you and me). So with the extra adrenaline comes more alertness. So in a nut shell, tiredness maxes out at approx 15mg but the stimulating side continues to increase with higher doses. Thats the theory but individual variation occurs.
https://patient.info/forums/discuss/...r-doses-335922 Basically a reverse side effect profile at higher doses. Which is explained above.

I used to take remeron for sleep. It helped with that and that was about it.
