I was on lithium for 6 years. The whole time I was on it I was incredibly thristy. I actually wet the bed a few days after getting on it because my body was not used to that much water. I remember being so distressed when I did not have water available.

I had the thrist for about a year after getting off it. Now I struggle with drinking enough water. I'd much rather drink iced coffee now.

Did anyone else experience extreme thirst? Did it get better?

Also, did anyone sweat profusely on it? I'd be drenched just walking from class to class. I now don't even sweat during a workout or in 90 degree heat when I'm wearing jeans.

In other words, getting off it was probably the best med choice I made.

I had this crazy anxiety that would last for days. It messed up my kidney function which was ultimately why my doctor stopped it.

It was just bad all around for me.

I have not experienced this side effect of lithium. I've been on 900 mg for more than 5 years.
Thanks for this!

I am on 1200mg and I always have something to drink in my hand. I am also diabetic so between that and the lithium I am hydrated for sure.

I took lithium at 1500mg for several years with no side effect like this.

*Metabolic
Frequency not reported: Anorexia, dehydration*. So it is listed in the literature I've read as a reported side effect.
