Does anyone have any good laymen sites that explain how different meds work? I'm on several meds and I want to understand what they're doing to my brain. (Adderall, Pristiq, Klonopin, Nuvigil, Rexulti)
I know about seratonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, etc. in general. But I don't know what a normal brain does, and I don't know exactly how my meds work. Any suggestions other than taking several courses in pharmacology and neurochemistry? Thanks!

I don't know of any sites, honestly... but I do remember some of my chemistry and biology from college...
So serotonin etc are like keys and they all fit into certain spots in the brain. In the basic sense, anti depressants (the chemical) fit where serotonin etc would go in the brain, making it where the serotonin etc the brain makes builds up until there is enough to make us not depressed. I will look around online tomorrow to see if I can find anything for you. I just took my sleepy time meds, so I'm gonna be crashing out soon.

Was able to find this just now, but not sure how it would rate on a laymen versus scientist scale...

These may help https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/mental-health-medications/index.shtml#part_149856 https://psychopharmacologyinstitute.com/ Stahl also has some abridged books, ie. Prescribers Guide online. They are a few years old but have a lot of information on individual medications. You can also dig into these charts- https://www.google.com/search?q=psyc...w=1895&bih=924
