Hi guys, I've been off of my 100mg Sertraline (Zoloft) for about a week because my doctors can't refill it until my next doctor's appointment (which is tomorrow). But I've been without it for 6 days, and I'm just feel incredibly anxious and panicky with outrageous thoughts and doomed feelings that are very extreme and paranoid. I've been taking Sertraline ever since I was 11 (now 20) for panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, just in varying doses. My question is, could just a mere 6 days without taking it cause all of this to act up again? I thought it took a long time to remove itself from your system? Thank you for your answers! I'm just being a bit paranoid.

Zoloft does have a long half life ~ about 24hrs ~ but that means half your last dose is already gone the next day. Sensitive people can begin feeling withdrawal and rebound anxiety after missing even just one dose.

Of course you could be having all those symptoms from withdrawal! If I miss one dose of medication I feel withdrawal coming on. 6 days...yikes.

You can experience withdrawals from meds as soon as a few hours after a missed dose. 'Im really glad you're going to see your doctor.

Absolutely. I’ve not got my repeat prescription on several occasions & had between 5-7 days without. Not only do I experience what you describe, but I also get dizzy, nauseous & irritable. So yes, a mere 6 days has brought on withdrawal symptoms. Once back on Sertraline after a couple of days, it seems to kick back in.
