I'm currently taking Wellbutrin. It was working well for awhile, but not so much anymore. I have been feeling extremely depressed and emotionally eating/binge eating.

I recently increased my dosage, but I'm wondering if there are other medications I should be considering.. like mood stabilizers? Which ones work well with wellbutrin? Any other ideas?

hi. it really depends on your problems, your history, your doctor's preferences, any other drugs you're being prescribed, etc.

other types of antidepressants are sometimes added to wellbutrin. ssri drugs seem popular, such as celexa or prozac. now and then remeron is added, for agitation and such.

mood stabilizers help some people. lamictal seems popular. its more for depression than (hypo)mania.

if you're lethargic and such, stimulants are sometimes used, although some doctors frown upon that practice. there's newer ones, provigil and nuvigil, that are less addictive and still get the job done for a lot of people. there's also the older options, ritalin, focalin, the various amphetamines, etc.

now and then "atypical" antipsychotics are used w/ antidepressants. abilify and latuda seem to be the more popular ones for that use right now. antipsychotics/tranquilizers come w/ a lot of potential problems, but they do help a lot of people.

hope this helps.

Abilify and wellbutrin go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
