So I have been on a few medications in my life but not many I really feel like I have never been formally diagnosed either in my adult life. Basically what that statement boils down to is I am going through a roller coaster of emotions and memories right now. I don't like medications I never have I have seen my mom take too many different ones over the years by a doctor who pushes them out like they are candy. So I'm fighting with myself now because I'm sure that I need medicine and I'm sure that it will help me but what if it doesn't and I become like her and can't live without them? Did anyone on here hesitate with taking medicine? If you hesitated has it turned out for better or worse since you started taking them?

Since day one, roughly ten or so years ago, when I started to see someone I was about as anti meds as you can get. Thought they'd turn you into a zombie, make you not "you" etc... All the stereotypes you hear. About a year or so ago I decided to be open and that I could try out meds and I could get off them if I hated them. Best decision I've personally made. It hasn't been easy. I've already tried 5 different medications in this time span to find the best for myself and quitting some are hard (looking at you effexor). It's your decision and you know you best but for me it's the best thing I've done for myself in a while. Rather than forever feel stuck hating myself forever I know through various different ways, including medication, I don't have to live like that

I have found that some of the newer medications do not turn you into a zombie like some of the older ones. It makes meds much more tolerable and easier to take at least for me they do. YMMV
